A Patient-specific Knee Joint Computer Model Using MRI Data and 'in vivo' Compressive Load from the Optical Force Measuring System
نویسندگان
چکیده
Modelling of patient knee joint from the MRI data and simulating its kinematics is presented. A flexion of the femur with respect to the tibia from 0◦ to around 40◦ is simulated. The finite element knee model is driven by compressive load measured ‘in vivo’ during MRI process by using specially developed optical force measurement system. Predicted kinematics is evaluated against the high-quality model obtained by registration from experimentally gathered low-quality MRI at fixed flexions. Validation pointed out that the mean square error (MSE) for the Euler rotation angles are bellow 1.73◦, while the MSE for Euler translation is smaller than 5.93 mm.

Changes of the Patellar Tendon Moment arm Length in Different Knee Angles: A Biomechanical in Vivo Study
Patellar tendon moment arm length (PTma) changes at different knee flexion angles have not been determined in invivo studies. We aimed to determine PTma in four different knee angles using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) topredict in vivo changes in the moment arm length from different knee angles during running.PTma was measured as the perpendicular distance from muscle–tend...
متن کاملA Chick Embryo in-Vitro Model of Knee Morphogenesis
Background: In this feasibility study, a mechanically loaded in-vitro tissue culture model of joint morphogenesis using the isolated lower extremity of the 8 day old chick embryo was developed to assess the effects of mechanical loading on joint morphogenesis. Methods: The developed in-vitro system allows controlled flexion and extension of the chick embryonic knee with a range of motion of ...
متن کاملRelationship between kinematic parameters of the lower limb and maximum ground reaction force during jumping and one-legged landing
Background: Anterior cruciate ligament injury is one of the most common injuries of the knee joint and prevention of this injury is of great importance(1). Considering that ground reaction forces are one of the load factors on the anterior cruciate ligament, Despite much research in this field to prevent ACL injury, the prevalence of this injury is still high(2). For example, previous studies h...
متن کاملQuantification of tibiofemoral shear and compressive loads using a MRI-based EMG-driven knee model.
The purpose of this study is to describe an MRI-based EMG-driven knee model to quantify tibiofemoral compressive and shear forces. Twelve healthy females participated. Subjects underwent 2 phases of data collection: (1) MRI assessment of the lower extremity to quantify muscle volumes and patella tendon orientation and (2) biomechanical evaluation of a drop-jump task. A subject-specific EMG-driv...
متن کاملMuscle moment and angle of hip, knee and ankle joints in a seven- link model of backpack sprayer operator
Background and Aim: Carriage of backpack sprayers is an inevitable part of agricultural operations that increases the risk of injury along with undesirable changes in walking mechanics. The purpose of this study is to formulate the muscle moment changes in the hip, knee and ankle for the backpack sprayer operator body. Methods: In this study, a seven-link sprayer operator model is designed and...
